Ok, I can't remember for sure as it's been over a week since I last tried. But I think the squeaking was only there when the engine was running. As for the fuel smell in the oil, my first thought was piston ring failure and maybe that was causing the noise. It seems there is a lot of people way more informed than me, so I really hope your right and it is something relatively simple and repairable. I've waited years to own a storm and only been able to ride this one for a couple of hours!!!
Ok, so after not getting a reply from several messages and phone calls to Mr Hedges. I've been forced into putting the bike into a garage!! Initial ideas from the mechanic are that the timing may have jumped a tooth or two!! Although I am waiting for a definitive diagnosis. As soon as I know what it is, ill let you all know.
It'll be interesting to find out, the CCT's being changed to manual rule out valve meeting piston but that sounds like a possibility from what you're describing.
Can't help thinking, though, that it'll be a simple thing like a fuel tap diaphragm, or something like that.
Hopefully, anyway.
Let us know.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
I have finally sorted my storm and got it back on the road!!!
After a couple of hours in a garage, the diagnosis was bigend failure. So the manual cct's weren't to blame!!!
The cost of repair was going to be too much so I bought another engine off eBay and I replaced it myself. The problem now is it has the standard cct's on it now so I will at some point replace them with the ones that are still attached to the knackered engine.
