Manual CCT`s

Post by streetburner139 »

Hi, Help.. just got some CCT`s from Philpont(806) on ebay seems to me they are wrong ones.
My VTR1000 is 1997. The original CCT`s measurement accross the bore just above the bolt holes on the flange is 23.6mm that fits into the engine casing, these manual ones measure 21mm.
Are they supposed to be a snug fit into the engine casing because to me it`s relying too much on the gasket to stop oil seeping out when they will be bolted on, if you get what I mean a 2.6mm gap or 1.3 sides equaled out.

Hard to picture what you are describing mate. From what I can remember my manuals werent exactly the same size as the originals, but all the holes lined up and I used silicone gasket on the flange and the main thread to seal them up. Never had a problem.

They should be fine. Make sure you put some silicone gasket seal or threadlock along the thread before you tighten them up, so it seals inside where where the thread goes through. This will help with any oil seepage that may creep through and help slow it down from unwinding loose if the locknut becomes loose

Have you contacted Philpont to confirm he sent you the correct items? He was a member on here and has been selling his manual for a good few years. He will let you know whether you have an issue or not.

I've fitted several sets of Phil's CCT's before and not noticed this, but TBH as has been said it won't make a difference if all other dimensions are ok.
The sealing face is the flat face underneath the flange, not the round part that pokes into the engine cases.
The bolt holes will locate the CCT centrally, so no issues there.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
