Seals & gaskets

Post by Trainraider »

Winter is coming and now it is time to start putting the engine back together.

All good advices are welcome, all bad advices are laughed at but welcome :)

The first thing would be the seals and gaskets. I found from Louis (the German wonderland for Motorcycle owner) this set:
GASKET SET SAITO
XL 1000 VARADERO 99- 09

Would that be correct one, because there is no set for Storm?

Mostly the same apart from exhaust gaskets (different port diameter) as the crankcases are identical.

So the main gaskets (head gaskets, crankcase and oil pump o rings, clutch cover gasket and alternator gasket are all there.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Excellent. The original gaskets are so expensive that even that I don't get the full set, I still win by buying Varadero gasket set.

Thanks. This should mean that starting next month my Pimp-my-vtr thread will start to get updates from the complete rebuild.
