Unless the chap can produce written documentation from Honda to that effect and can sign a guarantee to cover the cost of repairs if it fails - otherwise take it as an urban myth to go with the indestructible pink and orange spotty ones

+1 on asking leevtr about mods
the firestorm is a great bike to modify, you will need to decide on cosmetic and or dynamic mods
the storm was average in a fair few aspects(forks,shock,exhausts) to name a few, i like the idea of a single exhaust likw lloydies, it sounds very nice indeed
good luck with your mods fella, start a thread in the pimp section and remember to post lots of pics(we are a nosey bunch )

Had my original ones changed at 16K miles to the pink spotted ones (Before failure) Now at 24K and still going strong.......

Really must fit manual ones. OK another job added to the list. Good job our winters are so long.

Get them changed lanny - they will fail. Might be tomorrow or 30K miles down the road, I'm happy to take the risk and associated financial burden. Actually, not being able to use my bike would piss me off more than the cost.

I will do mine, I've only left it as it's a commuting bike so is probably the least abused one in the world.

I think best thing to do is ride the bugger for a while, then decide what you're not happy with/ what you'd like to improve. You may find it's great as it is, or want to change loads, we all ride differently and ones advice is different to anothers. Personal choice. Seems general concensus on the CCT upgrade though, so get them sorted. Where are you based? Loads of people here who are willing to help out a fellow Stormer.

I should also put in a word for the stopper mod, it takes all the good bits of the production auto adjuster and makes it safe if it fails. Oh and it costs nothing....just a bit of your time and the ability to read some instructions.

It's what I have on my bike, and my spare engine, and what I would recommend to keep the bike safe.

Cheepest suspens mod is to fit the spacer to the rear shock..you can make 1 yourself, lots on the fleebay for £3 if you can't be bothered, but not the one for £25 that was up not that long ago..

Hi All,
Just picked up A 05 plate Firestorm
Having bid and won on Ebay, i did a 420 mile round trip to pick it up yesterday.
Having spoken with the guy i was led to believe it was in really nice condition and had not been used in bad weather. BULL***T Ii i had not travelled so far and laid out for the hire van , derv, deposit etc I would have walked away but i didn't and am now the new owner I dont want to go into the conversation I had with him so i will push on, think positive and start the process of tailoring it to my own taste and standard.
The bike is what seems to me to be a rare mat Black colour,8000 miles, service history, nice cans,scot oiler, armstrong wave discs and decent consumables.
I would like to make it look Mint, handle and stop well and perform well, so a few questions i need advice or guidance on are, Is all the fuss about cam chain tensioners and rectifiers failing true , if so what's the solution and is it costly/difficult ? What is recommended to get it to stop well, run well, handle well ? Are their any tips, advice or warnings you can offer or Is their anything to avoid?
Look forward to any help etc, will post some piccies soon.

Very nice bike colour. Looks like someone has been riding through some very large puddles and not cleaning the bike. Get in and grease up the connections on the starter motor at the front as things are looking like there's a bit of rust settling in.

Hopefully through winter i can get it back close to how it should be, i have 1k to spend which is burning a hole in the pocket but i will resist and pick mods carefully, i will post the progress as it happens.
