Off to the welder again (snapped exhaust stud)

Post by gissmo50 »

went to take the exhaust off at the weekend to give it a clean b4 i fit the high rise next weekend and came to notice a snapped exhaust stud on the front cylinder, so i cut the bolts off the other stud through fear of snapping the other one took the exhaust off and have discovered that that exhaust clamp is welded to the collar?

never seen that b4 so i cleaned up what i could and bolted it back up with a new gasket and luckily its sealed up and not blowing but really gotta give my welder a call get a nut welded on and this sucker outta the head and a new one in, this truly is the storm that keeps on giving....

using a nut splitter is recommended on the studs as they nearly always snap off :( .
yep the collars are welded on the the clamps

I know a really good guy to do it my old man knows him from back when, it's just getting the time and if he wants to do it with the block in the frame, the same guy fixed a cracked weld in the frame a while back now better than new.
