Bit like this then but not massive (i'm TERRIBLE at cad..)

Image

You'd need (ideally) a microswitch to detect the top and bottom of movement. You can put long arms on them and run them along the edge of the trumpet

That's just what I meant.
Thanks for the drawing; I wouldn't even know where to start with that, probably Paint.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I use sketchup which is a free google program. It's pretty easy to use. Have a look at the starter videos on the site. I'm sure you could pick it up easily :).

Pay day on thurs so i'll order a motor controller then :)

Motor controllers ordered :).

I'm going to just gut a floppy drive for the motors i think. I'll be able to reuse the worm gears then :).

Some bits have turned up.

Anyone know the rough range of the TPS? ~500 at rest and what at full opening? (just a rough idea, it doesn't realy matter that much).

(Infact, does anyone have a spare carb/tps setup they could lend me for a while?)

I think as standard they have been seen as low as 400 and as high as 900 approximately but they all vary slightly. When I first done my TPS trying to achieve 500 the max is would go anticlockwise was around IIRC 560 so once I bent the tabs at the back I got it down to 500. So the range is controlled by the amount the spring on the rear moves the TPS between the two prongs on the carb.

For this project you need to know the working range that the engine requires the TPS to work efficiently between which I don't know. I'm sure Tony has a good idea and probably has something in mind already. It may be a case of getting a multimeter out and measuring the range as the the revs go up noting the ohms at certain RPM's.

Yep - it'll set itself to your base tps reading when it starts up so to a degree it's auto sensing. I just need to know, as you say, the working range.

I'm not sure what potentiometers i have so it'll need a bit of wombles anyway.

Cheers for your input :)

Free floppy drive equals a nice little worm gear and unipolar stepper motor :)

Edit: Optical stop sensor too. I can see a plan forming :)

Right - prototype is done (ish). Here's a video:

Any questions etc, please ask. It's just the assembly from an old 3 1/2" floppy drive :).

Excuse the quiet audio, it was 2am and the missus was asleep in the next room.

those look like lots of bits that you dont want falling apart and getting sicked into the intakes :eek2

Tony I would fit some mesh bellmouth screens on the 1st test run!

None of that needs to be inside the airbox :).

I need to design a voltage regulator system and a elegant way of getting a feed from the tps.

*squeeeeeee* Presents!!!

First off thank you very much to Carl for the TPS Sensor. I can get some good readings off this now so I can base the calculations off real numbers! :) Thank you sir!

I also received my new stepper motor. I'm a little bit excited about that.

It is, however.. err. Shall we say; a bit bigger than i was expecting. Picture (with some scale). Reckon it's going to be too big?
