they are 2 for one at halfords atm ;)

i just decided.... and made a little purchase...

of a second pair of hid ballasts and bulbs to go in the sidelights. (and some h4 holders)
god help any oncoming driver who dares to dazzle me lol cos i will melt the paint off the front of his car

gone for the 6000k bi xenon 55w kits - cost me £16 for the ballasts, bulbs and wiring harness :D

the lights on mine are already fair bright to say the least... but the other night i still found the amount of light thrown off was restricting my speed somewhat as i could only go as quick as the distance my lamp would allow me to see...

220w of blinding white hid light.... should be quite an improvement!
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

From 'Matters of Testing MOT Issue 53 April 2012'

Aftermarket motorcycle lamps

All manner of aftermarket lighting products are available to customise motorcycles. We look at the legality of some of these products as well as what happens if they are fitted at the time of MOT test.

LED lamps
An acceptable alternative to standard bulbs, these lamps tend to use multiple LEDs. The MOT requirement is that at least 50% of the LEDs must illuminate. If not, the lamp will fail for being ‘so damaged or deteriorated that its function is impaired’.

Combination rear lamps
Such lamps usually have a clear lens, which is illuminated red when the rear position lamp is on or the brake is applied. If a direction indicator is switched on, half of the lamp flashes amber, whilst the other half remains the red of the stop and/or rear lamp.
This type of lamp does not meet the regulatory requirements and is therefore illegal. If one is fitted to a machine presented for test, then it should be failed for the stop and position lamps being adversely affected by the operation of another lamp.

Flashing stop lamps
These incorporate a modulator which causes the stop lamp to flash rapidly for the first few seconds of brake application, which gradually slows until the light is permanently on. These lamps are also not permitted by the lighting regulations and will fail an MOT test for emitting other than a steady red light.
Flashing stop lamps which flash under heavy braking are permitted for passenger cars, but these are subject to strict type approval criteria in respect of their activation

HID headlamps
Due to the adverse affect on the beam pattern, it is not considered legal to convert conventional halogen headlamps to HID xenon using the existing lens and reflector. Fitment of complete HID xenon headlamps is permitted, although the lamp may still be required to have some form of self levelling system to be legal.
In either case, there are currently no Reasons for Rejection in respect of motorcycle HID headlamps, providing, of course, that the headlamp aim requirements are met.

I knew fitting HID conversions to cars was illegal - looks like it's ok for bikes though

I've been saying that for ages but every time I said it's OK for bikes there would be a number of posts saying that it's illegal so I stopped preaching it.

VOSA Motorcyle MOT testing manual

Compare the headlight section to cars and you will see the difference. No mention of HID's for bikes.

Nice find benny, I might treat myself. Did you buy direct from a store or online. If online have you got a link please

i do miss it and might just get some more on there as they were brighter than the relays and 90w bulb i currently have fitted .

The Police aren't going to bother about the rainbow effect lights, and you'll find that cars move out of the way more often because they're not sure what's coming up behind them.

But I'd say it was very unlikely you'll get pulled for using a bulb freely available forn Halfords designed to go in as a replacement, which is what you'll say if you're ever asked about it. "It's what the bloke in Halford recommended when i asked them".

But you won't get pulled with these; I've been running them for years without issues. Get pulled for riding like an butt and they'll try to find something to throw at you, but there's easier things to pick than what bulb you have fitted....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
