CCT's just gone. Need a good workshop in London
CCT's just gone. Need a good workshop in London
Can anyone help? My CTT have just gone and I need a top end rebuild. Does anyone know a good workshop or mechanic in London who can do the job? Or is it better just to replace the engine, my one's done 42,000 miles...

*Ouch!* Try speaking with Tony Mons down in deepest Kent
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

See two votes of confidence, ignore Wicky he's from Essex, Tony lives 10 mins from Brands Hatch so it's not really deepest Kent.Wicky wrote:*Ouch!* Try speaking with Tony Mons down in deepest Kent

Alright, thanks for the votes of confidence, I've replied to Andy listing his options and hopefully we'll save another one from the scrapper.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: CCT's just gone. Need a good workshop in London
Job jobbed, he was a lucky bunny- the front cct had failed, but the ex cam had only moved one tooth.
The inlet cam had moved five, but that's ok- the piston's moving down away from the valves when that one opens.
So retimed, fitted manuals, started, runs, all good.
And he's had the valve clearances checked into the bargain.
But any competent workshop could have done this, why was he told to swap engines?
Another one.
Sort of answers the question about "do I really have to sort the CCT's, or is it just people trying to frighten me"? doesn't it.....

Well done Tony
that was a close fall then, no bent valves. Very lucky, very lucky indeed.
