Bike washing items

Decent bucket

Nice shampoo
Image

Drying towel-Many options available just testing this one nice and small
Image

Wheel cleaning brushes-daytona and two vikans-vikans crap for bikes daytona superb
Image

Some nice wax-This is more of a show wax but looks very nice indeed but not cheap
Image

Some metal sealent-for all your blingy steel bits
Image

FIRST OFF Wheel cleaning
Give them a good rinse down and then some wheel cleaner
Image
These brushes the daytona do both sides at once and are very soft

As you can see vikan not so good but great on cars where the surface is flat but not as soft as the daytona brush

Does just riding it in the rain sometimes, count?
I find that it makes the dirt softer and more likely to fall off by itself.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Will using a poor quality bucket make much of a difference ?

Come to think of it, what's the difference between a good quality bucket & any other ?

Apart from an old bucket with a hole in it, surely a bucket is a bucket.

Grit guard is the difference and using two buckets. One for clean and one for dirty, unless you like washing you bike in mud.

The metal sealant is that just a protective layer for winter or is it more of a polish your ally, seal and it wont dull?

I have some goodies coming from Bilt in a couple of days. :Dancing:

Nah bollacks that's a waste of a bucket !

1st rinse off bike with hose with a spray nozzle, knocks off the dust & grit, then clean sponge/mitt in foamy suds from a normal common or garden bucket (round or square makes no difference, but preferably one without a hole in it.) Then when you need more suds, rinse the sponge/mitt with clean water direct from the hose, before dipping in still clean with no grit in it suds bucket.
When done, rinse with hose. Job done.

Top Tip...

Cheap a & free buckets can often be picked up from the side of most major roads, they may have dried plaster or something in them & often have no handles...but their free, what's not to like

I hate to bring this into it, but does colour of bucket affect cleaning prowess? Obviously mine's black, cleans faster I find. And with Chric's ocd for cleanliness I wonder whether it's a coincidence he has a red bucket and takes such an eternity to clean. Just wondering.

Good point, I have a black bucket & a yellow one as well, TBH there is no difference in the speed at which the fill up or empty.

In my dreams but this is the only reason why I could imagine I'd need a bucket as a seat
