Help with clutch cover/pump problem

Had abit of a slip off last thursday and smashed my clutch cover to bits! To cut a long story short i managed to get a clutch cover but it was off a varadero my question is just underneath the water
pump there is a metal pipe coming out of the caseing when i fill the rad up with water it pours out of this pipe. Do i just need to conect this up with the pipe going to the top of the rad neck? Im only saying this because on the varadero the res tank is located lower down next to the pump??

Could you post some pics of where it's leaking.

If you mean its leaking from pipe that's at the front of the clutch casing (early ones had a weep hole) that means the gasket isn't sealing off the water pump, and is designed so that water leaks don't run into the oily engine.

I think its the mechanical seal on the back of the impeller thats shot! ball bags got to take it to bits again

Eeek A bit heavy on the gasket gunk - is that a new gasket?

Yeah did put abit on didnt i ha ha yes it is a new one. Just changed the seal behind the impeller its stopped pissing out now.turns out that it is just a drain spout incase the seal fails i think?

Yep.

That seal is well expensive.
Try disassembling the one from your old case and fitting it.
And by the way, can I have your old dead one?
I need one to fit to a rolling chassis and engine cases I have assembled to get clearances for making exhausts, no matter if it's in one bit or not as the engine's gutted and has no moving parts, and it'll never have water or oil in it
anyway.

Well after alot of swearing got my water pump problem sorted i needed a new mechanical water pump seal. f**k me they aint cheap! a honda one will set you back £60-70 I got one from wemoto for £25 + p&p[*] not to bad but still alot of wong for a tiny seal eh!
