Post by chris vtr virgin »

Hi all quick question
Bike is now laid up for the winter, so would like to take off rear sub frame
To tidy it up and give it a paint
How easy or hard is it to remove all the stuff fitted to it and the remove ???
Cheers

Yep really simple, make a note of the way all the wires run and where they connect as this is probably the hardest bit. There's only four bolts holding the subframe on.

as said it wont take long .
but take a pictures off every thing in its location . more pictures you take the better .
i only took what i thought i needed to take the pictures of but in all honesty i needed more .
get some old chinky tubs and a black marker pen and lable them so you can keep the nuts and bolts in as this will make it easy to put it all back together .

as the guys have said, while your at it, i'd suggest filling a chinese takeaway tub or something similar with wd40, putting all the nits and bolts in it, then give it a good shake, easiest way to clean them, then a little bit of copper slip when putting them back together. as for painting, i did mine in hammerite satin black, take a while to build up a good coat and a while to dry, but the results are worth it...
