Heated grips & VFR bars fitted now

Post by alternative_vtr »

Ok, finally got round to fitting my VFR bars bought from cybercarl and some R&G heated grips so thought I would post the pictures. The screen needs a bit of tweaking to clear the bars on full lock and the R&G grips are a little chunky compared to OEM and I have small hands (small hands large c**k is the old wives tale)

The bars are more comfy but now I get windblast from being taller behind the fairing :whatever I am going to see if I can space the fairing off a little which should allow it to clear the bars on full lock and give more wind protection, doing that when my mirror extenders arrive :)

Looks good . Hope you can get away without trimming the fairing.

Yes I think I can, either by making some spacers to space the fairing off the brackets or by bending the brackets upward by about 15mm, that's the two plans in my head at this stage.
Was going to use my storm throughout the winter but as it's in such good nick and only done 2000 miles since new (yes that's right) I am thinking it's a shame to get it mucked up with salt and crud.

:plainsmile No I bought it a few months ago with very little mileage on it. The bike is a 98 model but It had been stood for 10 years as the guy was abroad who I bought the storm off. Before he sold it me the guy paid the Honda dealer a fortune to re-commission it with new petrol tank, carb clean, new battery, fluids change, plugs etc etc etc and then I slapped a fresh pair of tyres on it and did the RR and CCT's  I don't get time to ride it much so when I sell it it may be the lowest mileage/ newest looking storm for a long time :)

With that sort of mileage no wonder it looks so clean. That is one pristine looking storm. A couple of washers or a small spacer between the bracket and fairing should do the trick for you. There should be a bit of foam there between the two already. Maybe just putting them on the bolt towards the rear will angle the fairing just enough for you

A guy at the dyno shop had a black on and that had only done 3k .
Same as you been stood for years .
It to was in for a new tank and a good carb clean ! He only paid £700 for it buy paid £700 more to put it right .
Still £1400 for a 3k bike in mint condition ain't bad is it
