Fork oil

Post by malone »

Hi all, I new to this forum and looking for some help :biggrin

I bought a VTR Firestorm this fall and it needs a little tlc. It has hardly done any miles (12000m) and I have taken it all apart to re-chrome any visible bolts and nuts, powder coat rear sub frame and headlight frame and other minor details. Yesterday I found out that the dust seals have seen better days and I plan taking it all apart to renew.

I have allready bought new dust and oil seals but I need some information regarding the amount of oil to refill :?:

Thanks in advance

Martin

A litre of 7.5w and if I remember it was 440ml when I did mine. I'll check the Haynes tomorrow, unless in the meantime someone confirms a) the amount or b) I'm talking bollovks

Download the service manual PDF from the workshop knowledgebase section for all the specs

Go by the quantity just to give you an idea of how much oil you need. When it comes to setting the oil level measure the airgap (distance from top of fork to oil) it'll be in the service manual, usually in mm's.

Yes, but with the spring out, and the leg compressed.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
