I've decided to go with a laptop with win7pro, it seems the best option for me at the moment, and as said on here i can always upgrade later if i need to.
Hopefully this thread is useful to others, I know i asked for unbiased opinions, but this is the first thing i've read on the net about win8 that actually IS unbiased. Once again many thanks
