Who wants to hear a novel story?

Post by Virt »

Once upon a time, there was a certain young adult who went by the name of Virt (well.. not literally). Virt was an amazing person, everyone loved him. However he own a devil bike, an In-Line 4 and it constantly had problems. On one bitterly cold February morning the engine refused to work and start up. Regardless of whether the clutch was in, it was using the main or reserve tank, no/quarter/half/three-quarter/full choke was used or anything the engine just would not catch, it would try and try but nothing would happen. I've given up with my bike now, it's wonderful when it works but it just never does anymore. If anyone has more money than sense (about 9k would be nice ) and about 5kg of explosives I would be so appreciative.

I want nothing more than to throw my leg over the storm and just ride it anywhere.
Idk, it keeps breaking whenever we fix one thing :/
Yeah, nice try  When we do sell it I think we're going for a wee bit more than a fiver. Besides, you'd have to come Essex to collect it!

£10 from me

There was a great programme on Essex on BBC4 the other week with the arty historian type Jonathan Meades - interesting about all the alternative society type experiments that cropped up before WW2.

TELL YOU WHAT (capitals are necessary cause this just made me smile)

I can insure the storm RIGHT NOW for £1800. I'll lower the asking price on the hornet to 2k, then I can also afford the restrictor and I'll pay for tax outta my own money. Any takers?

You in Clacton-on-Shameless? as I've just home from there! Bit snowy by the sea...

Fixing whatever ails the poor CB (probably needs tlc) will be a great deal cheaper than £1800. What was the problem last time it wouldn't start and what was the fix employed, so we can have an idea of how you're keeping entropy at bay.

Yes, sadly so! I'm more surprised by the fact it hasn't been stolen than the fact it doesn't work
Idk, problem last time was actually me flooding the engine and there was some loose pipe (no idea what it does. probably nothing), because I whacked on full choke to start it which doesn't work when the carburettors are actually connected properly cause no air got to the engine. (as we'd found out only 1 carb was actually properly attached, explaining the smell of petrol, time it took to warm the engine and performance) and full choke was necessary. normally now it starts without me so much as thinking about choking it. However we've tried on 3 seperate occasions an hour apart to let it recover in every possible way we can think of and nothing happens. Which was what fixed it last time. We also had someone come and have a quick look and they admitted they had no idea whatsoever as everything seemed to check out according to them :( And while fixing it would be a great deal cheaper than £1800, it wouldn't be anywhere near as permanent

Could be handy to know cos it could be important. :!: - Wait till you look under the VTRs tank and you'll wish you took notes...

Have you lifted the tank to see that everything is connected? Is there a spark? is there petrol? Will it bump start? Kill-switch...?

I'm not back down that neck of the woods till Tuesday - If you haven't got recovery then there's always Manley's MCs 4 Ford Road, CO15 3DS 01255 421528

I've looked in the service manual or something that I downloaded from Honda and the pipe doesn't exist in there :P

If I lift the tank I can't get home. The seat lock on the Hornet was designed by a chimp, it uses half the key and never works so all you end up with is a bent key that won't fit into the ignition when you give up trying.. I only have the one key on me right now as well so I can't risk it, and I'm due back at Sixth Form on Monday anyway.. If the bike doesn't work by Sunday it's gonna get hit.. A lot..

If you can't access the important to look at areas then there's not a lot to be done as it won't fix itself :confused Have you tool kit?
