r/r mod

Post by scouse645 »

Hi, just in the middle of changing my r/r to the finned variety, i can't remember if the earth cable that connects to the bolt was at the back of the r/r or the front, or does it matter? hope i have explained myself ok. Thanks.

It doesn't really matter as long as it's making contact with the metal frame. It's better to get it behind, but I put mine in front as I had limited access. It makes contact with the bolt which is then making contact with the frame. So one way or another it's making contact.

Yes they do get pretty hot, this why the finned types are essential to help with cooling them off. The standard un-finned one get very hot and burns itself out.

Thanks, yes that makes sense, don't think the guy i bought it off ever went very far on it, so i guess thats why he never did this mod, think its only done 300 miles in the last few years, i will be doing a bit more than that on it, it also hasn't had the c/c fix as i asked him, but thats another day.
