progress#4........and more questions.....

Post by Tarmac Tyrant »

Hi all.bike is starting to come together slowly.wheels are on at both ends as well as subframes.starting to wire it up at the moment.can someone pop the seat on their bike please and post a photo of how the wiring loom is routed? In particular the bunch of connectors on the left hand side.where the battery sits.it doesnt really matter with a track bike.but i dont want it looking like a bucket either.

Next question.even though im a long long way off fairing,my curiosity defeats me.what kind of fairing will fit the firestorm with minimum effort? I read about sp2 fairings going on them somewhere.
Thanks in advance children of the storm

I will take some photos for you tomorrow. I need some of the electrics for my collection anyway for moments like this.

As for fairing I don;t know of an alternative that will fit straight on without making new brackets or front fairing stay. Quite a few people have fitted SP fairings but I don't know the ins and outs of fitting.

Here you go.....

Image

ImageNote where the loom splits it goes underneath the frame and behind the subframe. Then runs along the inside bottom of the frame to feed the thermostat housing area and on towards the front.

ImageYou can also see I have two vacuum hoses running up here as well, which you can see the ends capped off behind my battery.

ImageThe loom comes up and onto the outside just behind the rad, runs along a bit and clips into the clip on the headstock before running up to feed all the front end.

Image

ImageNote the split in the loom here for the TPS and right rad runs along the cross bar just above the cam cover.

ImageHere where the other split runs along the the inside of the subfame and feed the fuse box and also continues along under the round crossbar to feed the starter solenoid and tail end.

I rebuilt the starter motor last week after some Richard broke the positive lug on it.threw it on last night, crossed the block connector for the key......and it turned the engine nicely.i was tempted to see if she would start but i want to do a few more things first.i want to rebuild the rear brake caliper now.

But where the hell does the main earth lead from the battery go? Im using a regulator mounting bolt for now

The earth strap connects onto to one of the rear CCT bolts. It runs from the battery through the side of the subframe and down.
