If you remove the carbs and exhaust could you hold the valves stems in place by going in through the ports? Might save taking the heads off. Mind you, you'd probably need a really fat mate to come around and press the springs down whilst you've got your fingers down the ports :D

If only we could think of someone to fit the bill.......anyone?.........no?...........nothing? no I can't think of anyone fitting that description!!!

That compression tester is expensive and I don't think it has the right size adaper with it. The thread on out plugs IIRC is 12mm Gunsens sell a an optional 12mm adapter. That kit is designed for cars I think.

Have at look at this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTOMOTIVE-PE ... 257214f89f
Just double check the plug sizes with them that come with the kit as it does not give the sizes.

or this one, a bit more expensive but has an M12 adapter with it.

Or just borrow one.

I'm not sure on that valve spring compressor, yet again being Halfrauds I think it's designed for cars. It looks OK for the job, but I'm unsure of the dimensions of our heads and that jaw might be too big for the spring caps. Have a measure up on the heads on your old engine.

There's also these style compressors as well, that work a bit like a G clamp.

The grinding stick and paste is spot on mate and cheap enough.

Your parts list looks good, but you could save a few penny's. Do you really need a exhaust gaskets or tensioner gaskets. IIRC your exhaust gaskets are relatively new and if you have a bit of gasket seal knocking around then smear a little of that around the base of the tensioners and a bit on the thread.

The only other thing you may want to account for is valve shims. You may need a couple. Benny has the shim kit or as your heads will be off, do your measurements/sums and buy whatever size is required rather than a whole kit.

interesting fact for you, when developing the 954's engine Honda ran it for 24 hours on the rev limiter before stripping it and inspecting it and it was said to be like new internally - From a book somewhere in my bedroom

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Take it back, borrow Benny's and spend the money on a flex drive for the drill. Your stones won't get right into to the tracts held in a normal drill.

You need a magnet on a flex shaft as well to pick the valve collets out, i stick mine back in holding them onto the blade of a flat blade screwdriver, held on with a dab of grease. if it's a hot day put the grease in the fridge for an hour first.
