Scruffy Firestorm

Post by Jordanc »

This is my 98 Firestorm that was bought as a winter bike and i couldnt really refuse it for the price, After riding it about the last couple month i think il keep it over the summer as a second bike or for pillions. as iv come to really like it! Its abit scruffy but i hope to tidy it up on the cheap but tbh im not overly fussed aslong as long as it goes and stops, So far it had Cans ( loud ment to be scorpian but who knows) the read muggaurd choped off and a home made "tail tidy" made up, and the indicators removed for sum odd reason,

Was droped off to me like this by my mate

It came with a hugger and a belly pan so i fitted the hugger, also fitted a new rear tyre and muffs (well it is a winter hack after all)

Image

Then I didnt really like the full belly pan as i felt this was trying to make it sumthing thats its not, so i chopped this one up so it no longer meets the fairing,

Out on a run

Thanks for all the kind comments:-) Does any one have a link for flushmouts? Iv looked but they come in all diff sizes and don't want to get the wrong size! Also I keep looking at pics of firestorms with upswept pipes but from what I gather its a bit of a nightmare! And u need to ditch the pillow pegs witch I'm not keen on as its a great pillion bike.

yeah mate, upswept pipes will mean no rear pegs, you can have high level tho and use spacers to keep the original rear pegs, just checked abay and the place i bought my flush indi's doesn't sell them anymore :(

Couple small updates nothing mega! Starting to really like the storm to the point that i had trouble picking what bike to take out today hah! was only bought as a cheap winter hack, anyways

The front end was hanging off! turned out to be a broken lug on the frame but iv jb welded it back together and put the fairings back on altho sum bolts are missing and the off bit of platic is broke so the cable ties and glue come out!

Image

Bought these flush mouts off ebay for £12 as my bike didnt come with indys for sum reason

Image

But after the first ride this happend!!

Image

:( Spot the problem! emailed the seller who was very nice and sent me another set:D

Next up! Fork seals as i burst both of them in the same ride! to many wheelies i think also painted the front wheel as it was scabby! rear was one last month

Image
Image
Cheap as chips £9 forkseals!! see how long these last haha!

Front end built back up

Image
Image

Carbon fender extender! imo the most pointless bit of carbonfiber any one could ever buy cos we all know fender extenders arnt cool but it protects the bike and i got this free so why not! cant even be seen either!

Image

And bought one of these!

Image
Bike loves the snow!

And with the spacer

Not too many I hope. :biggrin

Upswept are no good for pillions. one, you loose the pegs, and second, the pillion will burn their legs. Best to keep the standard set up for pillions.

Cant remember what cans i had on at the time might have been the high mount scorpions when i had pillion peg extenders on, Tanya managed to burn her self getting off leaving a horrible scar, there was skin stuck to the link pipe!

Think that was the last time she went on the bike to be honest too.

next you'll be saying titanium isn't worth its weight in gold..... :eek2 :eek2 :eek2
and satin black is rubbish............

keep up the good work fella, they're bloody addictive bikes.....
