No doubt this has been raised before but I'm new on here so here goes....
Does the 16ltr tank from later Firestorms fit the earlier model bike? (mines 1999).
Cheers.
Fuel tank compatability
Re: Fuel tank compatability
16L on the early ones, 19L on the later.

Re: Fuel tank compatability
Right, so the fuel consumption is actually worse than I expected!
Thanks for the quick reply and the information. I'll search for a later tank then as the swap over is fairly simple.
This is my first VTR, loving the bike, great fun to ride.
Cheers!

Re: Fuel tank compatability
Sorry I was a bit abrupt with my previous post, I was on my way out.
Yes fuel is a bit dire with these bikes. You may want to rule out any other issues you may have if using excessive fuel. As for finding a tank, well, good luck. Be aware you can't get one from the States as they never got issued the 19L. You want to be a bit careful as some sellers may have changed the decals to the Honda wings to give the impression of a later tank. Ideally you need to see pics of the underside as the later tanks just have a thread where a spigot attaches.
The only other problem you have is deciding on how you will feed the fuel down to the carbs. On the later Storms the vacuum diaphragm was moved from the petcock (fuel tap) to a separate diaphragm that mount on the rear of the frame with the one line from the tank down to it. These are also hard to find.

Re: Fuel tank compatability
Nothings ever as simple as it seems!
No worries about seeming abrupt, (I didn't think you were...). I really appreciate the information you've given me.
Cheers,
Mart.
