In my simple mind turbulence and availability.... think that is the thing to look at.... if it has lots of undisturbed air to gulp down then lovely.
The shape at the top of the stack can promote acceleration so it can be considered as partially important..

very interesting gents, yeti you are a very lucky man....
anyways, heres my last dyno print out, as you can see the a/f is a little off and its a bit down on power. it was taken in one of those mobile dyno's with flashing lights on it....

Very complicated stuff air capacity and airflow, even right down to quantity. Looking at Yeti's airbox and all the bits in there ie ram tubes. I'm wondering if there is the same cubic capacity inside his airbox as a standard airbox, it's just that the air is fed in differently. In theory it seems logical, more air = more fuel, more fuel and air = more power. Maybe notthere must be an optimum amount that can be reached per the size of the combustion space and compression for maximum displacement. But this is getting into Boyle's law and Charles's law territory.

They all have an internal taper of 6 degrees...

I'm looking forward to getting my results. I reckon I'll be lucky to get 120 though. I'm worried it might start me down a route of more expense!! lol

very interesting to see the engineering drawings, that puts it into context...........out of interest did you also measure the standard plastic ones so we can see how the length compares?

cc x max rev's / 2 (4 stroke only one being induction, 2 strokes per revolution ) = max capacity of air. then divide by 60 gives you total cc of air change per second in the airbox. I think

so I am on to something then with there being a point where it has a negative effect.

where the 60 come from. And with the revs would that be where the rev limiter is set a, so already pre-determined by the manufacturer. Maths is not my strong point.then divide by 60
