Choke collar broke
Choke collar broke
Ah. I was tinkering with carbs tonight & all went well.
Putting everything back together & just securing choke handle, then whilst functioning choke, the collar snapped away from the frame mount.
I can still use the choke but its a two handed job now!
Anybody got any ideas on a fix? It's the plastic bit that's snapped (hidden under rubber cover).
Worst case maybe it's a new choke assembly that I need?
Bugger.
Griff.

Re: Choke collar broke
Plenty of choke cables on fleabay at a low price - Tank, airbox off and you'll need to dislodge (not remove the carbs) to fit em. Then rebalance them.

Re: Choke collar broke
is that the bit that someone on here fabricates in brass ??
3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the worlds population.
Re: Choke collar broke
Them the brass choke screws at the other end where they fit into the carb - If you havent got some they are worth getting to stop grief as the placcy ones can also break

Cool. GLSR pm'd. If he still does the 2 x brass bits, ill fit them when I get a new choke cable. I guess you can't buy just the collar that has broke of mine near the choke knob!?

Re: Choke collar broke
Don't be silly that's too easy. Honda would rather sell you a complete cable. It's a well known weak spot those plastic bits, you also need to be a bit careful with the thread as well, as they are very fine and it would be easy to cross thread into the soft metal carb body.I guess you can't buy just the collar that has broke of mine near the choke knob!?

Re: Choke collar broke
I'm being a tw@, just read your first post, so it's the handle bit you pull out from the frame end, not the little plastic collars at the carb end. You will need another choke cable from ebay or something then. But get some of the brass collars of GLSR anyway as it's a nice touch and it's only a matter of time before one of them snap if you pulling carbs on and off a fair few times.

Re: Choke collar broke
My one snapped years ago, so the choke knob wont stay out. However since I've stopped lubing it & it's got a bit of rust on it, it stays out fine ...
