Re: cct's
its hit n miss tbh - id say like 75% of the stuff ive had from usa has been stopped and taxed.scouse645 wrote:Just over a week ago i ordered the cct,s from krieger in the us, today i had a letter from the royal mail saying i had to pay a customs charge before they deliver them of£16, has anyone had this before?
yet ive ordered stuff from china, hong kong, taiwan, oz and canada and never been fleeced.
round here they don't deliver - its a 50 mile round trip to the depot to pay and collect.
which is annoying as ive paid for the item delivered to my door.
there must be a way to get round this as technically if you have paid for home delivery they are guilty of breach of contract???
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
Re: cct's
Yup - though unlike poor Benny my depot is only a couple of miles away but it was a PITA getting screwed by Customs.
Should have got them from (European Krieger stockist) http://www.exhausist.com/naks.php - contact VTRdH Rob de Hoo in Holland.

Re: cct's
Hi bud .. bad luck on that further expense m8ty.. it is hard to know why some
articles imported are subject to import tax and others aint so to speak..
I have had small stuff and not paid... envelope size .... boxes seem to get dusted with
import tax... perhaps if someone knows in the know in the Post office why is this ?
either 1. a PO worker couldnt be arsed sorting the article ... he's on your side...
and sticks the parcel through with the letters and other junk dross and it gets delivered
or
2. They are very carefull, note your address and Postcode and assess the value which
has to be stated on a green tax import note affixed..... If you go over your
limit ... I dont know what it is say 100 pounds ? they clobber you ... but if its
a one orf ... they let you off as in 1. mmmm . a nation of tax collectors..
That didnt work for you and obviously a PO employee did his bit and imposed the duty.
European imports from the EEC are tax free, as is Hong Kong up to a certain date when it
became Chinafied so to speak... all other worldwide imports into blighty are liable I believe but
it still is a mystery to all.. can anyone throw any reasoning on this ?
. anyway the Krieger CCT are spot on well made. god luck with them

I have had items get through untaxed when marked as a gift, however it doesn't always work.

Think of it as your contribution towards Trident.
I think items can only get away with being a gift under a certain value, this how the chinks get away with it. Also the bigger guys that sell fairings and things from China pre-pay you custom charges. Otherwise technically you should be charged customs from there also. The only place where the is no custom charges officially is within the EU.
If you want to know how much you will be charged beforehand then it''s not the post office but you need to go onto the UK Customs and Excise site and they have a whole list of categories and tariffs http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/tax-and-duty.htm but as anything like this it's still not easy to work out.
But to top it off which I think is bang out of order is the the Post Office are cashing in on it as well and charge you for going to the customs office and paying the fees and picking up for you. So we don't just get hit by customs but the PO as well. Thet call it stationary charges or some other bollox.
It's so bad now that I refuse to buy anything from outside the EU (especially the states) unless I have 100% no choice and is something I really need.

Re: cct's
As i work with Mark and represent him for European market i do not have custom issues for customers within this market area.
I ship from Netherlands , complete with official invoice (with VAT), in that way you allways can prove you have paid VAT.
(use my private company for this so it's legal, I pay the dutch government the specified VAT)
If you buy from USA you may expect custom (import duties + vat)declarations afterwards (import from outside EU) Customduties and vat will be calculated on salesprice including shippingcosts !Keep that in mind.

Very true, very true. I forgot to mention the "MULE" option! At least you didn't have to wrap them in condoms and swallow them!
