Sloppy throttle

Post by Flatline »

The throttle on my bike has 5-10mm of movement before it starts to rev the bike

Is this normal?

Can it be adjusted out?

Presumable the cables can be adjusted?

It's a bit too much. You should have between 2 and 6mm of slack on the throttle. You can either adjust it at the bar end where the cable goes into the throttle tube. Or better still adjust it at the carbs. Remove the airbox and you will need a 10mm spanner and adjust the top cable. It probably need tightening up a bit. Make sure it hasn't worked loose and about to get even more slack.

If you are unable to get rid of the slack then the cables will have stretched & could well do with replacing.
