what have you done to your "bike" today

Tps set to 550ohm and I will set it to 500 once the carbs are balanced and tickover set .

As it's no secret i'm young and stupid, I have to ask. What actually does setting a higher/lower resistance do to the tps? I've seen it get mentioned a couple of times but never understood it

When set correctly 500ohms (900 from factory ) it make it run lots better

Still haven't got the firestorm back so went mental on the tzr. Full strip down engine out disassembled repaired and nearly rebuilt. Just the clutch assembly to replace and then back in the bike ready to be plumbed in and hopefully no leeks this time not bad considering I was gunna leave it till the winter.

Rode it to the Bikers Pit Stop meetup, first time it's been ridden in about a week. Jesus christ it feels like sh1t. God knows what my Dad did to the clutch but it's ridiculously far out now and I strongly dislike it. And it's official in that I now have no front suspension, I felt every single bump on the 2 or 3 mile trip and I have never felt so uncomfortable.. Then again I DID ride a VTR with Ohlins just last week so that might have something to do with it However lots of new parts have arrived in the post today;
Clip ons, clutch cable, little screw thing for the clutch cable that goes near the lever and something else that I forget. Just need to wait for the forks to arrive tuesday and give the bugger enough that it won't instantly fail the MOT. The rest is up to the guy doing the service

Think of a TPS like a digital version of an old fashioned distributor where you turn the distributor around either clockwise or anticlockwise to advance or retard the timing but not quite as course. Actually the TPS is more like the equivalent of the centrifugal weights inside the distributor.

Technically though the TPS Is Attached to the butterfly flap on the carbs which works via the throttle, so the reading changes as you open the throttle up and the TPS sends a reading to the ECU where it works out whether to advance or retard the ignition timing according to speed and revs. Just like the centrifugal weights in a distributor except it's digital.

But all you need to know is that by setting it to 500 it will allow you to get a smooth low speed steady state cruise. As a side affect it helps with the idle and also helps to eliminate carb coughs as long as everything else is good like your jetting and carbs balanced. Out of the factory the TPS is set to emissions and not performance so it could be set to anything. It's not uncommon for them to be up in the 900's or more or less. They are all different.

fitted MRA Double Bubble screen, got it off ebay delivered for about 20 quid

was dreading the job as the gixxer people made it sound a monumental effort and a bitch of a job but had it done in no time,
dash needs some brute force to pull it out the tabs mind was convinced something was going to break









managed to break one of the bolts, strangely when i was unscrewing them one of the heads of the plastic bolts came off

not sure if i should get blue or black or titanium replacements now....

I'm gonna make the most educated guess i can... It distributes something among something in order to do something. Amirite?

And I remember those Mac. Don't judge me cause of my age I went to a very crappy and OLD primary school
