so then chaps after reading my manuals about replacing my rear shock, I don't really fancy having to take the tank/exhaust off to do so
Whats the best way to remove it without removing the exhaust, removing the linkage and dropping it out the bottom whilst the rear is hoisted up?
is it as simple as that? how long should it take?
any info appreciated

Re: replacing rear shock
yes its as simple as that especially if the bottom shock bolt has been put in the opposite way round from standard....like I mentioned in the other thread
you just need to undo the rear rank bolt so you can lift it slightly at the back to undo the top shock mount...no need to remove.
on abba stand and with a helper to hold teh allan key on one side while you torque up the linkage nuts on teh other side of teh bike it will take 1hr

Re: replacing rear shock
Or rather than lifting the rear of the bike up you could rest the bike on bricks/timber under the sump to the side of the exhaust pipe that runs along it. As long as the the back wheel is off the ground the swingarm will be be hanging free enough. But either way make sure you loosen off all your bolts first and yes it's a simple job, an absolute piece of piss. You shouldn't have to remove the exhaust if you can get a spanner in there. Loosen the top bolt first so any excess tension in the spring is released then remove the bottom mounting bolt, then go back and completely undo the top mounting bolt and you should be able to pull it through.

Re: replacing rear shock
all done, and my god it feels different!
compared to that piece of sh1t that's 30mm lower I now feel like the bike is loads higher and a much more sporty riding position (leaning onto my arms, lets see how long it is until I moan about comfort)
also I took the whole linkage out and regreased it all so its smooth as anything, ill assume Ive greased all the right bits haha

You will have to learn to ride the bike all over again now.
