rough running
rough running
After having his vtr into the dealer with the dreaded cct failure my mate says since he got it back it won't rev past 7k and cuts out too and is running rough, apparently the machanic left the tps unconnected so he reconnected it but it's running rough, I've told him to recheck the timing and check the fuel tap for the stopping at 7k problem and to check for any splits in the vacuum pipes, check the carbs are seated properly and balance the carbs, clean the airfilter and to turn the idle up to 1200-1400rpm....have I forgotten anything????

Re: rough running
Sounds like timing is 180' out .
Re: rough running
Because of the rough running I would double check the vacuum pipe is connected on the right place on the petcock first just to rule it out. But because it's actually cutting out at 7 though this leads me to think this is another timing issue with it being 180 degrees out as Lloydie said.

thankyou guys...the timing was the first thing that come to mind, hopefully the dealer will have it right for him today.
Re: rough running
You would have hoped that a dealer would know this, wouldn't you!
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: rough running
Tattoo, If you not already seen it, here's the correct procedure for setting the valve timing:-

Re: rough running
yes...i told him how to check the timing himself and suprise suprise it was 180 degrees out so i told him to send it back to the dealer as they did the timing after his front cct failed, hopefully it'll come back sorted..
Re: rough running
