Customs Cost...

Post by kemper162 »

Manual CCTs arrived today from USA.... glad they got here finally but not happy about the 20 quid customs charge :silent: So all in all it cost me as much to have them sent as it did to buy them.... ah well

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but it may help others considering this option, it might be worth contacting our Dutch member who supplies these from Holland as he is Krieger's Europe rep. Probably more expensive than the price from the States but when you factor in the robbing B*stards from HMRC......

How much was the customs charge and how much was the handling company's 'handling fee' ?
I bought a set of discs from China and was slapped with £3.90 VAT and a £18 handling fee. I wrote them a letter essentially telling them to get wombles and haven't heard from them since!

I always try to avoid buying from over seas if I can especially America, nothing but extra cost and let downs

Yep, they can. I bought a GT250M seat from a guy in the states a few years ago. Got slapped with tax and queried it with the C&E who basically said they can bend you over and roger you whether it's new or old kit.
