I would go with a 15A, it should be more than enough. But monitor it and if it pops the 15 check the wiring is not shorting somewhere.

a sat nav shouldn't draw 5 amps, surely?

Check the polarity.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Go steady with what you try. The whole purpose of the fuse is to blow before you cause any damage to whatever it is connected to. I would imagine that your satnav is not pulling anywhere near enough power to warrant a 15amp fuse (in your house you only need a 13amp fuse for something like a kettle or toaster) I would say double check the wiring to make sure you haven`t created a short when you hooked up the power outlet. Just my humble opinion.

EDIT. Tony, you beat me to it....... :)

Agreed with Turbo. Satnav should only require 3 amps at the most. The fuse will be there to protect the device but also to stop your wiring from meltdown.

As Carl and Turbo says, check out the wiring. I bought one of those power outlets from a UK seller, it was a brand new item for sure as it was in heat sealed clear moulded plastic container.

Mine had a cut in the insulation on the negative (-) side right up close to the body of the power outlet bearing the copper wire underneath :!:
I'm not suggesting you'd miss that, but worth having a close look, as yours could have a damaged live (+) wire. Also as Tony says, make sure the polarity is correct.

did the fuse blow when the outlet was first fitted ( nothing plug in )
if not then the wiring doesn't have a short circuit as the fault would still be there and blow the next fuse right away (move wires around to make sure its not intermittent)
i think the next step is to make sure that the positive contact is the one in the center at the bottom of the outlet this checks your polarity .
check that the sat nav on some other supply (car) if it works there then it has no fault either i think most cars have a 15 amp fuse in the cigarette lighter outlet
at this stage i would match the fuse to the one in the test car
a fuse should never be bigger amps than the wire can carry
told you not to but oh no you knew better
