Fuel Tank

Post by scouse645 »

Hi, its me again, just about to put my tank back on after putting a new pipe on, the pipe is one of those underneath the tank, its 8mm ID, i turned the tank upside down to do that and when i turned it back up petrol came out of the small outlet next to the one i put the pipe on, if your still with me? my question is should that small outlet have a pipe on it? :? just to add i think its the overflow.

Could you post a pic to confirm.

For a 16L tank: There are two main outlets from the fuel tap for 10mm ID fuel hoses and at the back of the tap (not the one pointing down) is a 5mm vacuum hose. Then at the base of the tank are two outlets for the drain and breather hoses.

Thanks for reply, its one of the two at the base of the tank, the small one for the drain, there was no pipe on it, i presume it should have a pipe on it? not too good at pics :confused

Yes the drain and breather should both have hoses attached and should be routed out of harm's way to the front of the bike (see pic above). In the event of a spill the last thing you want is petrol dropping directly onto a hot engine
