No idea about the make, but from my experience of manual CCT's they don't need adjusting very often. You can usually hear a rattle ( like a Ducati   ) when it's loose and needs tightening, but I know people with them on their bikes who haven't tightened them in nigh on 18 months

They look like APE manual tensioners to me. All the Brands are pretty similar in design but IIRC APE made them in Red. As for adjustment, as long as they have been adjusted correctly to begin with they will only need adjusting roughly every 16,000 to 20,000 miles. A good time to check them is when the service interval for checking valve clearances is due as the cam covers will be off and there is a chance they will need loosening off to replace shims anyway.

Yeeks, I'm a little concerned, I have the exact same APE's & mine are set much further in than those in the photo. Maybe they have reduced the amount of thread on them that I cannot be sure of. I will be stripping the rocker covers off to verify my chain tightness weather permitting

Mine to compare

Good call, well spotted.

Just another thought but arnt the APE ccts different length threads for the front and rear. The front being slightly longer as it's harder to adjust  Maybe domdom's have been fitted the wrong way around.

Not sure, both front & rear are the same length on mine. Will be doing a full strip-down shortly to verify will keep this thread posted

My mistake it's the Kreiger which are different lengths.

don't panic mate, if it sounds ok it probably is. I also notice yours appear to have some silicon sealant ? round the threads to stop them unwinding/leaking  ( unless its very clean grease?)

Yes mate, engine sounds sweat as a nut, it is silicon but as they where fitted by former owner just thought better check.

Well as you don't know there is no harm in checking and it gives you the chance to get to know the engine  You would soon know if they where too slack as you would hear it so don't panic. But do check the chain tension as they could easily be set either too tight or too loose. Don't forget to set the timing first. See the Manual tensioner thread in my signature for more info.

Hi all, Must be something bout fakenham and vtrs as am in middle of trying to fit my kreigers and its getting a pain to be honest! Am a mechanic but its making me feel like scrapping the p.o.s!! 8O Couldn't get the middle view/screw plug out for a start so had to take case cover and clutch pushrod off to turn engine over. then checked timing marks on cams and all looks ok but how the hell do you get in to take the front cam-cover off as deep up in the cheap seats lol.

Welcome to the forum oldman. The generator centre cap is a well known issue. It's made out of shite material. As for the front cam cover see the CCT thread in my signature and all will be revealed.
