brake bolt question?

Post by agentpineapple »

soon i'll be bolting my front calipers to the forks, i'm thinking of getting either some stainless steel bolts or even ti.
my front calipers are from a cbr900rrw/rrx 1998, and they'll be fitted to cbr954 forks 2002.
my question is, do i need storm bolts or blade bolts, 2x bolts for each side. i had the storm calipers fitted to the 954 forks last year, it took a bit of tweaking but i got them to fit. but i can't seem to find the bolts i used last year.
iirc my calipers are the same as the cbr600f4 model?
they look very similar to cbr929/954 calipers aswell. i assume they're more or less a standard bolt size. as long as the bolt fits the 954 fork lowers.
can anyone throw some light on the subject, or at least tell me if i'm on the right track or not...

Bolts are bolts  Just use a thread pitch gauge to measure the thread, work out what length you need then Bobs your uncle.

as far as I know, the 929/954/F4i/SP-1/SP-2/98-99 900RR/03-04 600RR calipers are all the same outwardly (same casting). The only differences, when they do exist, lay in the machining (ie. for pistons sizes). they are dimensionally identical externally.

There's nothing wrong with talking to yourself, I do that all the time. :biggrin The best thing about it is, you ask yourself a question and you always get a decent answer
