clutch bolt torque

hey all. this may have been said before, but i just went to tourque the 5 clutch bolts on the pressure plate and the book says 12nm....

no way will they take that torque.

anyone else found this? I have just put the bolts up tight without the wrench.

is there another torque setting that is correct for these bolts?

as tight as you can get with a 1/4 drive wrench.
anything bigger and youll snap them.
they dont have to be mega tight - just a drop of loctite and nip up.

cheers. , i thought they wouldnt need to be too tight.

i was using the torque wrench earlier on them and got so far and thought whoo f|":k thats too tight and backed them off then just nipped them up.

thankfully i have no bolts snapped in the clutch

Best not to use a torque wrench as your likely to snap them with the extra leverage Just tighten up in a criss cross sequence a bit at a time until you feel them tight enough. Just be wary that they can snap quite easily, it's all about feel really and knowing when to stop.
