Cam chain tensioners
Cam chain tensioners
Just thought I'd share my experience of trying to fix oil leak on rear cam chain tensioner that ended in me stripping the engine to bits due to a broke woodruff key making the flywheel spin off 45 degrees hence making the cam chain jump which then in turn made me drop a bolt down in the engine all sorted now and re did all the chains and tensioners while I was their tho but just a Quicky the bike is very pulsey when riding slowly it has only done 500 mile in the last 3 years carb clean and rejet do people think fine flat out tho ;)
Re: Cam chain tensioners
Longest first sentence ever!
Did the key break or did you forget to fit it?
Not had a problem with this before in these engines.
Well done for sorting it, though.
Most would have just stuffed a new engine in.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Cam chain tensioners
Not long bought the bike and yes I sorted it the flywheel timing is irreverent really as their is no pick ups on it as long as you get the positions to tdc on compression but I did however put it all back probably with a new woodruff key just got a bit annoying when I dropped a bolt in the engine my own stupid fault tho
Re: Cam chain tensioners
Only thing I could see was the front head was new and maybe the key sheared off when the last chain broke or something was a right bodge job tho so I did all back as it should be just need to get the carbs cleaned and re jetted and oil change tomorrow
