help with alloy repair

Post by agentpineapple »

i've acquired some aftermarket mirrors, they have a long stem which would make them ideal for the storm, the problem being, one of the mirrors has a vital piece snapped off. i have both parts, but i need then joined back together, i remember reading that a fellow member has recently had some success with an alloy repair?
i was wondering if they could have a bash at fixing my mirror.
i'll post some pictures up later today.

You could always try some of the metallic looking glue paste, designed for this purpose (not sure what the brand names would be on your side of the Pond). I have used the stuff in the past and had much success with it (can be drilled and tapped)....

Like this stuff: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOCTITE-FIXMAST ... _770wt_917

Hope this helps

i ain't clever enough to do that, it would just end up being one big splodge of goo.....
having said that, this particular repair isn't on show, so it doesn't have to be tidy. just strong.
i still ain't skilled enough to do it tho.... :(

try Egay for some black milliput (comes in all colours though) nice strong epoxy putty stuff, I use it amongst other things for keeping my Magnas righthand can sealed so it can handle vibration :)

also handy for filling smaller dents and a million other things
