Hi all,
Thanks for the replies.
Actually I am not that worried about top speed as for me the fun comes in accelerating.....and my bike does that

! My mate on his power commandered, dynoed, new cans Aprilia Tuono has trouble sticking with me mid range

(mind you, we don't call him Tall Tim for nothing

) Actually I think something is not set up right as his bike stinks of unburnt petrol when trundling through traffic, figured fuel injection shouldn't do that? Anyway I digress...
I really will have to check the sprockets. I am also about to (well it is raining

) do some work on it. Nothing too major, got some manual CCT's from APE in the USA, (4 days to my doorstep in the UK, how cool is that!) , new oil/air filter, new cushdrive rubbers (to be done when I change the tyre).
Have got a carbtune kit and will balance the carbs. Hopefully that will cure the snorting and coughing from underneath the tank. Will also spin the overflow pipes as suggested on a few sites.
Might drill some holes in the exhaust just to see if I can free some of that V-Twin music but not so much that Mr Plod cares. I bought a pair of unused stock cans from ebay so I can just put them on if I mess it up. I am tempted to perform a full bafflectomy

but then I will probably have to re-jet, dyno, etc,etc and I just can't be bothered. IMHO Honda normally gets it pretty good for real world use.
The only other thing that does concern me a tad is that my clutch has a tendency to snatch (oi!

). If I pull away smoothly no problems but occasionally if I am revving it for a fast(ish!) launch, then as I ease out the lever I get nothing, nothing, a horrible whine, screech from the clutch and a vicious take up. Doesn't happen everytime though. Ideas? Even better, fixes?
Gotta say I love this bike though. I feel that as an average rider at best the VTR really does look out for me, I might be freaked at being a bit hot into a bend, or worried about that manhole cover but it isn't. I reckon that if I get to use 70% of what it is capable of then I am doing ok. (I saw that fast bikes vid of the VTR yesterday. Oh my. So that's what 100% looks like then. Brilliant fun, right up until he takes it to 101%

)
Blimey...back to work
D
