Whilst out on a run today my speedo went a bit wonky
It started bouncing about and staying zero for a long period of time
I changed oil and filter yesterday if that may have caused it have I knocked a connection?
All seems to be ok now but do I need to look for any problems
Where is the speedo pick up
Cheers
Chris

Re: speedo
It by the rear exhaust .
Re: speedo
They usually do that when giving up the ghost - pretty expensive new but they pop on fleabay for about £20. Look near the rear CCT where it bolts in, and plugs into loom nr battery.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Re: speedo
I would check the the R/R is earthing properly. That can cause mysterious electrical glitches especially with instruments. I would also get a multimeter on and check it's functioning correctly.

Did you happen to wash the bike recently??
Loud pipes don't save lives, knowing how to ride your bike will save your life.
Re: speedo
+1 on the RR check, speedo or instrument cluster probs is often a side effect of voltage irregularities.
Check battery connections as well....

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

+2 on the above.
Mine did exactly the same as you describe just before my R&R gave up the ghost.

Re: speedo
Stuck a new reg/rec on it last year and its a finned type
It was washed the day before the run might be a water problem
Will look at all the other options this weekend
Thanks again

You should open and spray all your connections with wire dryer, then smear them with dielectric grease for long term reliability. And never use a pressure washer anywhere near them. It can only lead to great unhappiness.
Check the votage across your batt terminals while the bike is NOT, then IS running to see if your RR is dicey. (Should be 12.something sitting, 13-14.something running.)
