Neutral Switch advice please

Post by Stevo Kifaru »

Hi all, any advice on the best way to replace my neutral switch would be greatly appreciated.I presume it would be best done at oil change time as removal of the switch leads to oil leakage, but can it be done with oil in the engine? Do I have to get a mate who is willing to take the weight of the bike whilst I swap switches?

Pg 328 in the VTR service manual > LIGHTS/METERS/SWITCHES - NEUTRAL SWITCH

Just swap it

Cheers Wicky, I'd forgotten I'd downloaded the manual from here, but I was looking for a more real life experience tip.I'm sure I read of someone removing the switch & engine oil started to pump out, I was wondering how you would get round that sort of thing, i.e did they get a mate to take the weight of the bike so the oil was angled away from the hole etc.....

Changed it myself - and no Torrey Canyon oil spillage occurs when swapping out the switch

Cool, I'l just whack it on the paddock stand then, did you get yours from Dave Silver Spares? Seems to be the most decent price.

It's a common part on most Hondas - I think I got mine from a Blackbird for a fiver
