Oh yes you are not the only one...

Gear lever, pulled up for a fuel stop 10 miles from home, wouldn't go in N, as the pinch bolt loose...just about hanging in there, finger tight & rode home slow...

Lloydies story reminds me of the time I woke up in the lift, going down from the 7th floor STARKERS! :eek2 3 in the morning slept walked out the flat pushed the button & waited for the lift & then got in! Woke up hit the button for the next floor & run up the stairs...

I was clutching my nuts on the jog up the stairs so they didn't come loose...

cybercarl wrote::eek2 we have all done it, forgoten to tighten a bolt here or there. I must admit I usually double check vital components like brakes or axle bolts though. It's something that got drilled into me many years ago in a garage when we used to use the airgun to put wheel nuts on. We would never do them up tight though and the last bit had to be double checked by hand.

You were very lucky. As others have said most of us have done something similar at one point.

I forgot to tighten up one of the rear wheel spindle nuts on my old BSA Bantam when I was still a teenager 8O
I was in the middle of doing some serving on the old bike when I needed to go and help my Dad who had broken down in the car a good few miles away. So I dropped what I was doing immediately and went off to rescue him. I must have used another vehicle to do that.

It was only when I went to go home with my girlfriend at that time I noticed the nut was lose. We had only ridden the bike seven or eight miles into town with the nut lose 8O

Even though it was a long time ago I still remember going into that motor accessory shop across the road from where the bike was parked to buy an adjustable spanner, a Bahco wrench which I still have today, so I could tighten up that nut.

it happens to everyone, i've been caught out by those rubber washers on the bolts for the cam covers, sometimes they stick to the bolt, other times they stay on the cover, easy to get it wrong, the end result is oil pissing out all over the place.... :eek2
