CCT's and Baffleoctomy

Post by Da Lipper »

Well i finally got around to fitting the new CCT's today. Printed off Cybercarl's guide which was absolutely brilliant for an amateur mechanic like me and noticed when i took the top off the airbox there was 2 small filters one of which had a hole that i think isn't supposed to be there.

Haven't finished assembling the bike yet, but will finish that tommorrow morning.

Also i was looking at the exhausts and wondered if this was standard or has someone already done a baffleoctomy on my bike?

As you can see there is a screw on the underside on the left hand can, and a srew in the middle of the right hand can. I removed both screws and tried to haul out the baffles but nothing happened, no movement at all. Was a lot of corrosion around the 'baffle ring'

Get your drill out and get them baffles out .
I've done mine and they doing great .
If it wasn't got the Weight I'd be keeping them :-)
I've just won a set of akropovic cans on the bay :-)

They look like standard. Start with drilling a circumference of drill holes around the outside of the Black Black hole (baffle outlet) that would be a partial bafflectomy. See if that is loud enough for you. If you want more then drill even more holes so the holes link together making a complete break between the baffle and the rest of the can. You will then need a big hammer and give the outlet end of the baffle a good bashing to break the weld at the base of it towards the link pipe end. You may also need to twist and wiggle it a bit. A combination of bashing, twisting and wiggling to break the weld and then you can pull the baffle right out and clean up the circle of drill holes so it's a neat circle. You will then have a full Bafflectomy. Or just get some aftermarket cans.

Replace the foam filters in the airbox. Any air filter foam (ebay) or fish tank foam filter material will do. They filter the ambient air to the carbs. The air gets in through the holes in the bottom and go down the centre hole in the middle of the foam into the carbs. Give the new filters a light oiling like you would a K&N

Good to hear the CCT thread helped you out.
