Electrics again

Post by kturvy »

Right guys, got a bit of an issue.

The horn switch doesn`t work on my VTR. I bought a used switch set up off Fleabay. That doesn`t work either! All fuses are OK. I checked & double checked. It appears there is no live to either switch, the old one & the new one? Any more ideas?

Is it a common fault?

The horn itself works fine.

Ok power for the horn switch also controls front brake light switch, rear brake light switch & turn signal relay & of course these in turn are fed from the fuse box. You should be able to test continuity between the fuse & one side of the switch, follow the continuity across the switch as you press the button. This continuity can then be followed to the horn itself. Next from the horn the 2nd wire is the earth this also needs to be checked for continuity. If you have no earth connection then the horn will not work. If all that checks out then you have a faulty horn itself.

These are totally legal & never fail:
