Norton Commando 961

Post by sirch345 »

I just had to photograph this at my local bike meeting recently. It's a Norton Commando 961 cafe racer 8) 8)

They're a good looking machine but well out of most peoples price range.

Back in the day I had the Jota and Guzzi Le Mans at the top of my wants list but ended up with a Honda Phil Read Replica.

apparently they're stateside too, hadn't noticed anything about the Commando since an article in a magazine a year or so ago. Price around 15k-18k...while expensive, it's not out of the range for those who really want one around here. Many folks spend the same amount if not more on their Harley Davidson here in the US...I'd be curious how she runs, with a "performance" design, it has to be an difficult balance between street riding poise and composure, along with comfort...since you can buy faster bikes, and more comfy bikes for the same price...it's a bit of a niche market...and considerably more expensive than classic styled triumphs.

I read a review in mcn about these and they were very impressed. much higher spec parts than the thruxton and handled better too.
bit of a dream garage bike, just to say you got one. I have never seen one in the flesh

That really is a great looking bike

If you check out the latest MCN you will see the new Domiracer.............makes that one look ordinary :eek2

That Domiracer looks like someone cobbled it together it the garden shed. Just doesn't do for me. Maybe better in the flesh?
some photos don't show the bike in the best light.

Yes a cool £15,250 OTR price. I prefer the look of this Cafe Racer to the SF (Street Fighter I presume) or the Sport version. I've not seen the Domiracer in MCNs.

Here's a bit more on Nortons:-
