Hi everyone

Post by Brian 99 firestorm »

Hi everyone.
Very happy to be a new member. I am Brian and own a small motorcycle repair shop in South Africa. I am the PROUD owner of a 99 firestorm with just under 60 000 km on the clock. I've always wanted a storm and was blessed to adopt her about four years ago. Have had no hassles with her except the cct's of coarse, but had manual ones made up a while back and have never looked back since. We had a slight misshapp about two years ago at a trackday involving cold tires and being over eager. She's been rebuilt cosmetically, but never been the same, so in Feb, i stripped her down. she is slowly getting rebuilt. New wavy discs front and rear, new fork tubes, 4 deg advancer, gsxr 1000k1 front calipers, EBC double h pads, braided hoses, etc, etc.
I had previously equiped her with a DNA filter and stage one dynojet kit. Found my TPS to be set on about 1400 ohms, so modified it to the required 500 ohms. Just waiting for the body work to come back. I had purchased a genuine set of honda decals for the R157 color code, but cant paint the clear over it, so having others made. Will post pics when she's done. Anyone interested in the decals, give me a shout and lets see what we can do.
Cheers!!
1999 Firestorm. Spec A carbon fibre cans, wavy discs, six pot calipers, 4 degree advancer, DNA filter, stage 1 dyno jet kit, rear sets, etc, etc.

Yes but you will also want to put clearcoat or lacquer as we know it over them.

Welcome to the forum Brian, sounds like you have been through the wars with the Storm.

Take the vector files from the link below to a sign/ vehicle vinyl maker local to you with measurements and colour specs which you need - chrome would look good.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Tell you what.
The Storms are so few and far between over here, if your willing to travel, i'l give her a minor service for free! I would love to get the guys together over here and start a supporters group for the storms. Spares are a pain and most of the guys try and maintain their rides themselves.

@ cybercarl.
Thanx! Yeah, not so much a war, just me wanting to prove a point. I'm very pasionate about my storm and seeing as i'm already going through so much effort with her, i may as well do as much as time and finances allow. Next step would be pistons and cams from HPower in OZ, but the price is bit steap!
