According to race Tech .95 springs for 196lbs (14 stone with gear on) are in their list as below

Spring weights where mentioned by Roger and Popkat recently and both disagree with the Racetech calculator. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 10#p280396 This is why slightly lighter springs where mentioned. But as said MCT have a good reputation and know what they are doing. I'm wondering what length springs where used because this may make a difference. The main thing is that domdom is happy with the feel and Wow!!! what an improvement it makes upgrading the standard springs.

I agree with what you are saying Carl, and yes I would go with Rogers advice every time, as I have.
All I was thinking, was that MCT could have gone with Race Tech's chart, hence .95 springs. I can't think of a better suggestion.

It can have to do with riding style.

For a lot or even most people the Rach Tech calculator is a bit on the heavy side when calling out spring rates.

For me, I run very heavy springs in the front end..... but I am a very heavy breaker and also rely on front end feed back to tell me what the bike is doing.....

Sure I am 6'3" and 17 stone but when I had the stock front end I was running 1.05 springs and with the SP2 forks I have a set of 1.1 kg\mm

So IMHO the "spec'd" spring rate, like a lot of things, is a starting point and you change things from there to suit your personal riding style.

Exactly, personal riding styles and personal choice is a big factor to put into the equation,
