Gear lever play, anyone had this problem?
Gear lever play, anyone had this problem?
The gear lever on my bike is very loose
I can see that the actual lever has worn on the inside, so it doesn't sit tight on the bolt/spindle
Anyone had this problem?
I assume its a case of getting a new one

Wear & tare I spose...try taking it off & removing a bit of metal from the inside of the square bit where it clamps together...just a smidge off one side at a time until your happy it's tightening nicely.Flatline wrote:The gear lever on my bike is very loose

I am assuming he means it's the actual footpeg with wear, mine is the same. to be honest can't tell the difference when riding so haven't bothered doing anything about it.

It's the brass bush that wears and causes play if you take it to a engineer they can press the old one out and fit a new one .
I have the same issue with my standard rear set :-(

Do we know if there is a gear lever from a different bike that fits?
Re: Gear lever play, anyone had this problem?
Find the part number for the bit you need & cross ref it on silvers... That link I posted earlier, the part isn't shown on the Storm parts page but I put the pt. no. in & that came up.Flatline wrote:Do we know if there is a gear lever from a different bike that fits?
What bit do you actually need, the foot/toe arm or the linkage on to the g/box spline...?

"mbb" in the part number means its a part specific to the storm or at least was first made to fit the storm and could have been used on different subsequent honda models.

Re: Gear lever play, anyone had this problem?
Ooops...! So is it the end with the rubber boot on or the other end that attaches to the foot plate. If its the foot plate end then it could be the arm it's self that's worn or the the spline on the plate itself.Flatline wrote:Its the actual toe lever

Take the gear lever off & see if it has an insert that can be changed.
