I think it will be re-jetted somehow mate coz i stuck the pipercross on with standard carbs and empty scorpion cans and it ran like a bag of dung, but then every engine is different ive been told loads. If it was me i would have taken the carbs apart and look if a jet kit was fitted, i like to know what goes on in my engine! Lol
I've had the carbs apart a few times but probably rather foolishly
Never paid attention to the jet sizes I was just trying to get it to run properly, but from what you say it most likely has been re jetted to suit 'cos it can move.
I tell you what mate, if you can get your hands on 150 quid, order yourself a flo commander from the states. 150 quid all in including postage, well about 17 import tax, but it sorted mine right out. With my jetkit, because I dont have a full yoshi or similar system, the 190 jets are a little too big I think, but this just smoothes it all out nicely through mid and top range. I st6ruggled with my low range too. A/F screw 2 out is not enough, bike coughs, but 2.5 out is too much hence my problem yesterday. runs fine in mid and top range, but in town the revs just drop back to 1000 when it was set for 1400 and very jerkey. so took it all off again yesterday afternoon, both screws all the way in then out 2 and quarter turns, cough is gone at low revs, throttle very responsive and pulls nicely throughout now. im really pleased with it all now.

The extra lift hole opens the slide sooner when your should be on the pilot circuit so kind off richen things up in the wrong area as it come on too soon. But at the end of the day your using a filter that is very high flowing which not many people have had much success or experience with. So if the Dynojet lift holes work for you then that's great. Maybe this is what is needed with running the piper filter.

It will be interesting to see the dyno print out. But you might want to hold off until you change you inlet cams as this will more than likely affect your carb set up and you will be making changes again.

And where has it ever been mentioned that a stage 1 dynojet kit is made to go with a standard filter. Yes it is mentioned in plenty of places that these bike don't run so well with aftermarket higher flowing filters and will need jetting to suit.

didnt realize i had to rejet for inlet change too! Ill better do that soon then. Ill deffo post my results tho.

It says in the indtructions i got with the kit that it should be used with a standard filter. I will have to double check that now tho but im sure it stated it in there.

Yes any changes to cam position or valve clearances will effect things so any engine work should ideally be completed first. Tuning comes after these things.

The dynojet instructions I would have thought would be referring to their recommended baseline settings. But this is just a baseline, a recommended starting point if you like. It doesn't mean you can't deviate from it. Every bike is going to be slightly different and different air filters will for sure change things and the way the set up works.

If they give you a set up that is for a standard airfilter and you put a higher flowing filter on then that will no longer be a good baseline. Logic says and in most cases (sometimes more air can draw more fuel) by adding more air you will have to add more fuel to balance it out so it makes sense that the larger mains are needed and/or raising the needles, and /or bigger pilot jet or having to open up the fuel screws more. It's all fun and games and you will get used to pulling carbs and making slight changes

It's a lot easier to just put it on the dyno, but I personally like to try and save a few quid on runs and enjoy the tinkering and like to get things as close I can by feel. You also learn a lot and find out what effects what at what throttle position and revs and how by changing one thing it affects another etc. Once I'm happy and things feel right, I then do a run on the dyno to see how things truly are and make fine adjustments from there.
