i get at least 10% less mileage because of my weight and size, aerodynamically i'm a brick....
i normally have rlod (red light of doom) flicker into life between 85 and 90 miles, altough i don't ride slow, but nor do i ride like rossi's older fatter brother.... :D
as lloydie said, riding style plays a huge part in fuel comsumption.
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

OK try this, 16l tank, riding along and the red led comes on, fine lets find some fuel. After 10 miles I am starting to get nervous, after 15 a little bit frantic.

At last a petrol station, phew I have now covered just on 20 miles since the light came on. Guess what? It still held just its usual 13.86 litres.

Any ideas, could the sender be loose in the tank?

Oh and as a PS to the boys near Hertford, is there a petrol station in Ware, cos I couldnt find one, and boy was I looking :eek2

that always makes me chuckle when people spend big bucks on lightening up their bikes when they are big fellas anyway.

My first storm I had new in 2000 ran out of fuel at exactly 100 miles, town riding, did it right outside a petrol station, bike only had about 400 miles on the clock then so still loosening up, I expected better consumption as the miles went on. at about 600 miles I fitted a dynojet kit and drilled the slides, put the bike on a dyno to check and it was bang on. from memory I used to average around 90-100 miles to the light, on a trip along the A303 the light came on at 100 miles, no petrol stations for miles, was worrying but got to one at 130 miles, I was surprised it went that far, was with a mate on a Tl1000 and his light came on at 100 miles too, 130 was the most either of us ever saw from our bikes.

I have 19 litre tank model now and it's not hard to get 150 miles.

My bike does 85 miles to the petrol light, only because my local bypass is a 3 mile drag strip and I weigh 17st as well lol

Well... You ever imagine the fuel economy we big guys get without doing that work?! (And I ain't even that big... Just six four, 220...) But it makes a difference on handling even for us... And economy... It's just a matter of "how much" is worth it...

I have been running a race vtr with moriwaki cams, exhaust and lowered (1 tooth up front 45 at the back) gearing. It has a quick action throttle. It was doing under 20 mpg at donington....
