Battery
Re: Battery
IMO you can't go wrong with a Yuasa they are bloody good battery's. You have the Yellow Motbatt things that a lot of people like but I recently found out from a motorcycle garage mechanic that they have gone downhill in quality over the last couple of years since they have gone big and selling loads on eBay.

Re: Battery
Indeed and Yuasa's have been around for years and you know they are good. They just costs a little more though. Shame they don't have some extra accessory terminals on them. That is the one thing I like about those Yellow ones. But if you wanted that you could always mod it with some extra terminal take off points.

Re: Battery
Here's a question for someone...
Ebay search for firestorm battery, Yuasa ytX 12s.......£ 50 delivered.
Yuasa recommendation ytZ 12s.......£ 65 delivered.
The cheaper one is 10ah, dearer 12ah. I think thats got a lot to do with how long they hold a charge ( well it is when it comes to drill batteries anyway ). Is it worth paying the extra £15 ???

Re: Battery
That would depend on if you going to add many accessories that would use more power like 12v power supply, heated grips, brighter lights etc.

Re: Battery
I used Odyssey batteries in my Vmax and have just installed one in the VTR. The Vmax would sit for 6 months throughout winter and start first time (cranks the engine faster than stock), get ridden a few miles then put away for a couple more months. I never used a charger on it. The battery lasted for 8 years before my abuse killed it.
Snags - it's expensive at £127. The terminals are in a different position and the battery is smaller so it's not plug'n'play, you have to fit a new positive cable and mess around. Worth it in my opinion.
From http://www.odysseybattery.com/powerbenefits.html
Limited 2-year full replacement warranty — not pro rata.
With 3-10 years of service life, ODYSSEY® batteries save consumers time, money, and aggravation.
70% longer cycle life compared to conventional deep
cycle batteries — up to 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge — high stable voltage for longer periods of time.
Can be stored on open circuit (nothing connected to the terminals) without the need for recharging up to 2 years
or 12.00V, whichever occurs first.
The highest recharge efficiency of any sealed lead battery on the market — capable of 100% recharge in 4 - 6 hours.
