Re: Front Discs
Get a felt tip pen and hold it just off the disc, spin the wheel.. move it in, it will touch where it is warped. Hit here with a rubber hammer.
Or
Put a nut and bolt with washers through the bobbin holes, tighten it up..not too much, just to grip the bobbin.. spray some brake cleaner into it then turn the bolt back and forth to get the sh1t out of the space between the disk and bobbin, the bobbin needs to be turned.
Some other bikes disks fit,and are cheaper... CBR400RR

I personally when it comes to brakes buy new don't play with 2nd hand
Armstrong are not bad as long as u don't do track days or the extreme choice chinai'm not wasting anymore money, as you say buy new, that's what i will do.

Re: Front Discs
The bloke i took them to said they were fine, obviously it doesn't always work.
Yes 300 squids for genuine ones, bit stiff for what they are, unless anyone knows anywhere cheaper?

Re: Front Discs
You might as well pay the extra and get decent ones:
http://www.bikehps.com/braking/
Another £100 gets you pads as well.

Re: Front Discs
That price would take some justification, i don't use it enough for that, i'm moaning about spending for originals, i told my misses when i got this bike i wouldn't be spending much on it, she reckons that was a bit of a porkytony.mon wrote:You might as well pay the extra and get decent ones:

Re: Front Discs
Well, I run Braking Wave discs on mine, and it stops quick enough to keep me from running into stuff, so gets a
from me.
Once I get the Blade front end on I'll need to buy some 330mm discs, and then my existing front end will be up for sale, WP springs, and all.
I will see if I can persuade the F41 calipers to fit the Blade forks, though- I like those, and I have a radial MC to match up to them at some point.

Tony the calipers will drop on no problems as they are the same as the blade componentstony.mon wrote:Well, I run Braking Wave discs on mine, and it stops quick enough to keep me from running into stuff, so gets afrom me.

Re: Front Discs
They will be the right fitting, but you can get waveys from the uk that price.
I know people who are running round with waveys and they are fine, and I know people who have bought them and they have warped really quickly. I have also been told by mot man they have tested bikes that have cheap copy discs that look like originals and they have warped on the way to the mot test from new. Not really prepared to risk £150 as if they warp, your Honda discs have then cost you £450!!!

There are some oriental ones that have the slots cut too close to the outer edge of the disc and they crack- I had a rear fitted and there were two or three cracks in it after a few months. The Braking Wave ones I have leave enough "meat" on the disc, and don't have this problem- I wouldn't suggest them otherwise.
I posted a report on the cheap knock-off discs a while back.
Glad you're sorted, mate.

Re: Front Discs
So are there any other waveys that have a definite good rep? I know there are good ones out there, but didnt want to risk duffers.
Braking wave, what others have people used themselves that have lasted.

Re: Front Discs
I'm really sorry but I can't take that recommendation as goldfren are without doubt the shittest pads in the universe. I tried them on the fazer and my mate thought the brakes were warped when he rode it JUST because of the pads, changed to originls and they were about 400 times better.adyf wrote:Armstrong discs, goldfren pads, mines USD blade front but great discs.
