Seat cover removal
Seat cover removal
Now I really do feel dumb.
I can't get the seat cover off.
The handbook pdf thingy on here says something like "your Honda dealer will show me how to remove the cover".
The Haynes Manual just shows the seat removal key being turned and the cover popping up.
I have turned the key and the rear end of the cover seems to release and lift half and inch and no more.
I have tried "Open sesame" and "abracadabra" but still it does not come loose.
Can someone please put me right on this?

They can be troublesome and stiff,,, and when you do get it off
you can slightly bend the seat catches forward and grease them ..
it will come off .. try pulling the top right hand side near the petrol
tank with a jerk .. perhaps forward a bit..good luck.. have a

Re: Seat cover removal
Turn the key with your left hand and push down and back on the front right side of the seat. Works for me everytime, without any adaptions to the hooks.

Re: Seat cover removal
Is it the whole seat or the plastic tail piece attached to the pillion seat??
The seat comes off after using the key and with a wiggle it will come free and lift off . If it struggles make sure the cable is secure in the latch mount.

The plastic cover ..... I haven't got to the seat yet!!
The key turns and something does unlatch
The rear lifts a little but then what?
Am I wrong in assuming the plastic cover comes off first and then the seat?
or
Maybe the two are fixed together and come off as a unit?

Re: Seat cover removal
Take the seat off and turn it upside down then you'll see where the pillion plastic cowl clips on. Gently pop one side off then the other and slide it off backwards from the seat.

Re: Seat cover removal
Ok, try my method...
Put your left leather glove on, grab the seat near the front in the gap where your leg passes over.
Turn the key with your right hand and give the seat a good short sharp tug backwards toward yourself.
I'm such a pro now, sometimes I don't bother with the glove

Re: Seat cover removal
It's off
Yaaaaay
Thank you all very much for you advice and encouragement
As usual, I overcomplicated it by thinking the plastic cover had to come off first and then the seat.
The handbook is neatly fixed under the seat and it shows better how it all works.
Of course the seat has to be removed to find the handbook to show how the seat is removed. A sort of dope loop with me as the dope.
I shall now spend some time putting it on and taking it off - just for the hell of it.

Handbook with instructions under the seat.
You will soon get used to the seat removal, it's a little fiddly at first and is down to technique, but if you give the two upside down U shaped prongs the seat hooks onto a slight tap with a hammer. then it should make it a little easier next time,

Re: Seat cover removal
I found bending the loops about 3mm forward made all the difference. Before it was a 10 minute swearathon!

Re: Seat cover removal
Nice one furry, I couldn't remember if it was forwards or backwards.

Just take the hooks & strap off.
Much easier all round.

This should really be in the "Workshop" section, so I'm moving it,
